The P720 was successfully marketed over ten years ago, but now this franking machine can no longer be purchased new as Pitney Bowes has discontinued it, along with many other lines.
This model franks all forms of letter, small packets and parcels. The Pitney Bowes P720 series DM100i/DM125i, for example, has scales that operate up to 2.5 kg.
In its day, the P720 was fitted with a Smart meter and later, if appropriate, upgraded to Mailmark. SMART franking machines help to split up which items require VAT to be paid and which do not.
Features and specifications for the P720 are not readily available, thereby proving difficult to give more detail on speed and size, and performance.
Current Owners and Supply
A brand new model (P720 DM125i Franking Machine with scales) would have cost in the region of £2,250. Renting/leasing would also have been an option. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a second-hand market for the PB P720 series, however these machines may still be in commercial use, and fortunately for their owners, there are still companies who supply ink, including genuine Pitney Bowes cartridges.
In terms of price, and to provide a rough guide, a P720 series Pitney Bowes genuine Smart Blue 793-5 SB ink cartridge (3000 impressions) can currently be ordered online for *£94.95 (excluding VAT). Compatible ink cartridges tend to cost around £15.00 (excluding VAT). Even better deals on ink, such as 3 for 2, can also be found on a number of websites.
